Vaccines Remain Important as Deadline Nears

Campus physicians are reiterating the importance of current vaccinations as the rate of COVID-19 detected in campus wastewater spikes and the Dec. 1 deadline for flu and COVID-19 shots approaches.

Flu season is again approaching, as is the University of California requirement to get a flu shot or opt out by Dec. 1.

Updated 5 p.m. Oct. 4 to correct the date of the employee clinic to be held in the Health Sciences District and to add the location of that clinic. It will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, in 1041 Valley Hall.

The University of California policy that requires all students and employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 now also requires everyone either receive a flu shot or opt out by Dec. 1.

10 Days Left for Open Enrollment and the Flu Shot (or No Flu Shot)

If you are used to open enrollment that ends two days before Thanksgiving, you need to readjust your calendar. This year’s deadline has been moved up four days — giving you until 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, to make your benefits choices for 2022.

UPDATED: Executive Order Issued for Flu Shots

Updated Oct. 18 with directions on declaring to ��˽��̳�� Davis that you received a flu shot or that you are declining to get a shot. Staff, faculty and students have until Friday, Nov. 19, to get a shot or affirmatively decline it. In addition, this article has been clarified to indicate ��˽��̳��’s executive order allows discretion on nonpharmaceutical interventions such as face coverings that ��˽��̳�� locations may require of employees and students who decline to get flu shots.

For Your (and Our Students’) Health and Well-Being

A survey is coming this week to all faculty, staff and students, asking for their opinions on ��˽��̳�� Davis’ Smoke and Tobacco Free policy. Plus we have news about free flu shots and the first Well-Being Ticket Deal of the year.

Also, “gatekeeper training” is being offered to faculty and staff to help them assist students with mental health concerns.
